Super Swivels® are available in numerous configurations, size, seal, and material options including custom design and manufacture. Our catalog illustrates the most common choices, many of which are in stock and ready to ship. Please contact us if you don’t see what you want and we will work with you to fulfill those needs. Order options include: Inline or 90°, single or dual plane, stem thread type and size, body thread type and size, material and plating, and seal type.
Base Material and Plating
Super Swivels are manufactured from Carbon Steel or 304 and 440C Stainless Steel.
Carbon Steel Zinc (Z) Plating is recommended for non-corrosive applications, i.e. hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.
Carbon Steel Nickel (NI) Plating is recommended for mildly corrosive environments, i.e. water, mild chemicals, solvents, etc.
304 Stainless Steel (304) is recommended for low pressure corrosive environments.
440C Stainless Steel (440) is a martensitic, high carbon, magnetic stainless steel, heat-treated to maintain a high-pressure rating. Not as corrosion resistant as 300 Series Stainless Steel.
Seal Material
(V) Viton® (Fluorocarbon) – For most petroleum based applications. (-15°F to 250°F)
(AL) Aflas® (Tetrafluoroethylene-propylene copolymer)
– Better resistance to many individual chemicals. For service in high temperature environments.
(Low temperature limitations.) (+32°F to 400°F)
(PFA) PFA Teflon® – High resistance to many individual chemicals where Teflon seals are required. (1,500 max psi) (-15°F to 400°F)
Other seals available upon request include: Buna, EPR, Neoprene and Kalrez®.
Please specify oxygen use when ordering. Super Swivels are not recommended for breathing air or steam.
Inline Swivels
Inline Swivels rotating joints provide for minimal friction allowing free movement of hoses and piping in fluid conducting power systems. The compact design fits in tight areas. Super Swivels one piece barrel and stem with integrated ball bearing race design withstands heavy side loads preventing premature seal wear and leaks. This pass-through inline design is the most standard configuration in live swivels. Super Swivels connect directly to hose lines without adapters reducing overall costs of hydraulics. Inline sizes range from ⅛" through 2½" body thread with numerous fittings, finishes and seal configurations.
Features For The Car Wash Industry
Super Swivels offers a large variety of sizes and configurations to fulfill industry applications. Our superior alloy steel construction and stainless steel ball bearings resist heavy side loads and provide a long life of service. Quality patented design coupled with meticulous construction, combined with rebuilding kits assure the best value and longest life in tough use.
90° Dual Plane Swivels
Dual Plane Swivels – 90° Dual Plane Swivels rotating joints provide free rotation on two axis’s with a right–angle change of path. By having two lines with full rotation the complexity of hose lines can be reduced providing minimal friction and allowing free movement of hoses and piping. 90° Dual Plane Super Swivels allow for sharp corners with reduced risk of kinks and flow restriction and free rotation on two paths. 90° Dual Plane Swivels sizes range from 1/4" through 1½" body thread with various fittings and seal configurations.
BSPP Inline & 90° Swivels
BSPP Swivels (British Standard Parallel Pipe) are most common in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. A parallel thread fitting uses a bonded seal ring. This bonded ring seal is sandwiched in-between a shoulder on the male fitting and the face of the female fitting and is squeezed in place with no thread sealant required. Super Swivels ball bearing race design withstands heavy side loads preventing premature seal wear and leaks. BSPP sizes range from 1/4" through 11/2" body thread with multiple fittings and seal configurations including Inline and 90° Swivels.
