Understanding Flushface Products Understanding Flushface Products Flushface couplings continue to be one of the most confusing products to interchange, even though the ISO16028 standard was supposed to clarify this for our industry. The main reasons for the confusion are as follows: There are still many `Old-Style' flushface couplings in the market that are close in size, and may fit in some instances, but are not designed to interchange. For example, Parker FF752 will sometimes fit an ISO16028 coupler, even though it is not ISO compliant. Several manufacturers, especially those based in Europe, do not follow the ISO sizing recommendations. Some manufacturers have ISO16028 interchange couplings mixed with proprietary non-interchange couplings. For example, the Parker FF-Series 3/8" couplings are interchangeable to the ISO16028 standard, but the rest of the series is not. The industry has couplings that are dimensionally interchangeable to ISO16028 but are not fully compliant with all aspects of the performance requirements in the ISO16028 standard.
