Fittings
Metal hose is more versatile than other hose in that virtually any ftting can be attached to metal hose.
Other types of hose require special shanks and collars in order to attach fttings. For metal hose, any
ftting made from a weldable material can be attached without needing special features. This versatility
also means that multiple fttings can be welded together to make custom solutions for diffcult applications.
Selecting the proper fttings for an application is largely determined by the mating fttings to which the hose
assembly will be attached. Once the mating fttings have been identifed, the hose fttings should complement
the mating fttings in type, size, and alloy. Even though the selection of the hose fttings is determined by the
mating fttings, it is a good idea to confrm that the fttings used in the application are appropriate for the
application. Ensure that the fttings are chemically compatible and are able to withstand the pressure and
temperatures of both the media and the surrounding environment.
